Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, known as "Minotauro" (Vitoria da Conquista, June 2, 1976 -) is a fighter of Bahia heavyweight in MMA.
Was the protagonist of a dramatic story of overcoming when, at eleven, was hit by a truck. Due to the accident was four days in a coma, spent a year in hospital and received a scar (in the form of a hole) on the back that still holds true today.
From early training in judo, then moving on to practice boxing, Jiu-Jitsu (sport that was Pan-American champion before receiving a black belt), MuayThai and Wrestling. It was the protagonist of some of the biggest fights of the former Pride association, such as his victory over the "giant" Bob Sapp, a struggle that serves as proof of their unique ability to resistance.
His fighting style is based on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing. It was one of the best fighters in Pride.
His career as a fighter turned into a major celebrity in Brazil, Japan and the United States. It is known to be an athlete with an enviable performance in the ring and outside it.
Is often credited with the event UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), where a historic achievement in MMA: he won the title of heavyweight champion of PRIDE and UFC interim, becoming the first heavyweight in history to win the belt of the two events . In December 2008 he lost his interim title for the American Frank Mir in his first loss by knockout of his career. Minotaur was never finalized until such time as a professional MMA fight.
